Could the Yankees & Giants Match-Up For Brandon Crawford Deal? Simonetti Discusses Possibility

Pete Simonetti discusses a potential trade involving the Yankees and San Francisco Giants. The rumor is that Brandon Crawford, a Giants legend and four-time gold glove winner, is open to playing third base. He is also the brother of Amy Cole, the wife of Gerrit Cole. This could open up the possibility for a trade with the Yankees, who have been looking to move some of their "dead wood" in the form of Josh Donaldson or Aaron Hicks. While this is just speculation at this point, it is an interesting idea and one that NYYNEWS-TV will continue to follow.

With Names Like Correa and Turner Off The Market, Peraza or Volpe Have Clear Path To Be Yankees Everyday Shortstop

With names like Correa and Turner off the market, only a few names remain. It's now safe to say The Shortstop position is for the taking for either Volpe or Paraza. They now have a clearer path to become The Yankees everyday Shortstop.

Let's talk about The New York Yankees top prospect Anthony Volpe, who is almost ready to make the jump to the major leagues, according to Vice President of Player Development Kevin Reese. The 21-year-old shortstop, who graduated from Delbarton High School and currently resides in Watchung, ranks 10th on Baseball America's top 100 prospects list.

Volpe had an alright 2022 season, hitting .251 with 18 home runs, 60 RBIs, and an OPS of .820 in 110 games at Double-A Somerset before being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he hit .236 with three home runs in 22 games.

The Yankees selected Volpe in the first round of the 2019 draft out of high school. He has already reported to the team's player development complex in Tampa, where he is preparing for a spring training shortstop competition with Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Oswald Peraza.

According to Reese, Volpe is physically "knocking on the door" of the majors. "Depending on who you ask, he's ready yesterday, he's ready tomorrow," Reese said. "He's a great kid who is always looking to help the team any way he can and he's ready."

Reese praised Volpe's combination of general skills and ability on the field, as well as his calm demeanor. "Like Peraza, he's stolen a ton of bases, he's hit for power, he fits in with whatever group it is – players from different backgrounds, even pitchers, who position players don't like hanging out with too much. He hits in really well and I think he'll fit in on the big-league club when the time comes."

It remains to be seen when Volpe will make his major league debut, but it appears that it is only a matter of time. Yankees fans will be eagerly awaiting his arrival and will be hoping that he can make an impact at the highest level.

Are The Padres Looking To Move Fernando Tatis Jr This Off-Season?

The San Diego Padres may be looking to move their star player, Fernando Tatis Jr, during the off-season, according to rumors. Tatis Jr is a talented player, having hit 42 home runs and maintained a .282 average in 2021. However, he has also faced controversy, including steroid allegations and a motorcycle accident. Despite this, he has signed a 14-year, $340 million contract with the Padres, with his salary set to increase in the coming years.

There is speculation that the New York Yankees could be interested in acquiring Tatis Jr, but the deal would only make sense if the Padres were willing to take on some of Tatis Jr's salary. The Yankees would likely have to trade Josh Donaldson, who is set to make $25 million in 2023, in order to make room for Tatis Jr's salary.

While the potential trade is exciting for Yankees fans, it is important to remember that these are just rumors at this point. Until anything is confirmed by either team, it should be taken with a grain of salt. If the trade does go through, it could be a major shakeup for both the Yankees and the Padres. The Yankees would be adding a young, talented player to their already strong lineup, while the Padres would be shedding a large contract and potentially making room for other moves.

Regardless of whether the trade happens or not, Tatis Jr will continue to be a force to be reckoned with on the baseball diamond. His combination of power, speed, and defensive skills make him one of the most exciting players in the game. If the Yankees are able to acquire him, they would be adding a player with the potential to be a cornerstone of their team for years to come.

Theories Swirl Online, Fans Wonder What's "The BIG Move" The Yankees Are Working On

It seems that the New York Yankees are working on something big in the free agent market. While it's been reported that they are interested in acquiring Carlos Rodon, there is speculation that something even bigger is in the works. Some have speculated that this could be a signing of Carlos Correa or trade for Shohei Ohtani, but it's unclear at this point what the Yankees have in mind.

One thing that is certain is that the Yankees are feeling the pressure to build a championship team. This is likely due in part to the fact that Aaron Judge recently turned down a lucrative contract offer from the San Diego Padres in order to remain with the Yankees. Judge reportedly values his legacy with the team over money, and is eager to see the Yankees make moves to improve the team and compete for a championship.

One potential hurdle for the Yankees in their pursuit of a big acquisition is their depleted minor league system. In recent years, the team has traded away many of their top prospects in order to acquire established major league players. This has left them with a shallow pool of talent to draw from in potential trade deals.

Despite this, the Yankees may still be able to make a big move if they are willing to part with some of their top remaining prospects. In order to acquire an elite player, the Yankees would likely have to give up multiple top prospects.

While the likelihood of such trades may be slim, it's clear that the Yankees are determined to build a championship-caliber team. They have the financial resources and the desire to make a big move, and it's just a matter of finding the right deal. Whether it's signing a high-profile free agent like Rodon, or making a blockbuster signing/trade for a player like Correa or Ohtani, the Yankees are poised to make some big moves this off-season.

In the end, it will be up to the team's front office to decide what the definition of "big" is, and how best to use their resources to improve the team. One thing is for sure, however: the Yankees are determined to win, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to bring a championship back to New York.

Yankees LF Potential Trade Target Jake McCarthy

The New York Yankees have a decision to make in regards to their outfield, and it appears that the team is considering a trade for Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Jake McCarthy. McCarthy, a 25-year-old left-handed batter, is a local guy from Scranton, PA and was drafted out of the University of Virginia. He has shown power to both sides of the field and has impressive speed, as demonstrated by his 23 stolen bases last season.

While McCarthy's numbers from last season - a .283 average, 8 home runs, 43 RBIs, and 23 stolen bases - aren't eye-popping, they are still above average and indicate that he is a player with potential. Additionally, McCarthy wouldn't be a free agent until 2029, which means that the Yankees wouldn't have to worry about losing him anytime soon.

One potential concern with McCarthy is his strikeout rate. In 99 games last season, he struck out 76 times, which is a little high. However, his on-base percentage of .342 indicates that he still manages to reach base despite the strikeouts.

Another option for the Yankees is free agent Andrew Benintendi, who has reportedly garnered the team's interest. However, there are rumors that Benintendi may not want to play in a big city, and the Yankees would likely have to offer him a contract worth at least $100 million over five or six years to bring him on board.

Ultimately, the decision will come down to how much the Yankees value McCarthy and whether they think he is worth the potential cost. If the team believes in his potential and is willing to take a chance on him, then a trade for McCarthy could be a smart move. On the other hand, if the Yankees are looking for a more established player, then going after Benintendi or another free agent may be the better option.

Yankees LF Trade Target Bryan Reynolds

The rumor mill is starting to heat up regarding a potential trade involving Brian Reynolds of the Pittsburgh Pirates. According to an anonymous beat writer, the New York Yankees have been in discussions with the Pirates regarding a trade for Reynolds.

Reynolds had a subpar season in 2022, hitting .262 with 27 home runs and 62 RBIs. He also had a on-base percentage of .345 and a OPS of .807. There are some concerns about his defense, particularly in center field. It is unclear what the Pirates are asking for in return for Reynolds, but it seems that the demand is high.

If the Yankees are able to acquire Reynolds, it could be a smart move for their lineup. He is a switch hitter who could potentially fit well in the two-hole for the Yankees, depending on who they have lead off. He could also provide some insurance as a backup for Bader or Judge.

The acquisition of Reynolds would give the Yankees a powerful lineup, with the potential of Reynolds batting second, Judge in the third spot, and Giancarlo Stanton and Anthony Rizzo following. This would give the team a formidable group of hitters that could compete with any team in the league.

Additionally, the presence of Harrison Bader in center field would allow the Yankees to play Reynolds in left field, where his defense is not as much of a concern. Bader is an above-average defender, and his presence would allow the Yankees to have a strong defensive outfield.

It remains to be seen if the Pirates will lower their asking price for Reynolds and if the Yankees are willing to meet it. However, if the deal goes through, it could be a win-win situation for both teams. The Pirates would be able to receive a good return for Reynolds, while the Yankees would add a strong hitter to their lineup.

Round 2: Yankees & Giants Battle It Out For Another Top Free Agent - Carlos Rodon

It looks like the battle for Carlos Rodon, the top remaining free agent starter, may come down to a competition between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants. The Yankees are reportedly preparing to make an offer to Rodon and seem hopeful about their chances. The Giants are also pursuing Rodon, but the Yankees have recently been successful in beating the Giants to some of their top targets.

This isn't the first time the Yankees and Giants have gone head-to-head in the free agency market. Earlier this offseason, the Yankees beat the Giants for their own superstar Aaron Judge. And the Mets kept Brandon Nimmo, also preventing him from going to San Francisco. It seems that the Giants are having a tough time landing top free agents, possibly due to the fact that it isn't always easy to lure players to San Francisco unless they are from the Bay Area.

The Yankees, on the other hand, seem to be in a good position to sign Rodon. Though the Yankees liked Rodon from the start, it's worth noting that Aaron Judge is partly behind this pursuit. Judge told managing partner Hal Steinbrenner upon agreeing to his $360 million deal that he would like to see a couple of improvements. The Yankees would love to please Judge, who took less money than he could have gotten in San Diego or presumably San Francisco. This shows that the Yankees are willing to do what it takes to keep their star players happy and build a winning team.

As for Rodon, he had a strong season with the Giants in 2022, posting a 2.88 ERA and registering 237 strikeouts over 178 innings, while leading the league among qualifiers with 12 strikeouts per nine innings and a 2.25 FIP. He also has ties to the area, as he is a Miamian. This may give the Yankees an edge in signing him, as he may be more willing to play for a team closer to home.

Of course, the Yankees aren't the only team interested in Rodon. Several other teams have been linked to him, including the Rangers, Dodgers, Orioles and Twins. The Red Sox and Cardinals are also among the teams surveying the pitching market. Other top starters remaining on the market include Chris Bassitt, Nate Eovaldi and Ross Stripling, with Rodon, Bassitt and Eovaldi all having the qualifying offer attached.

It remains to be seen if the Yankees will be able to sign Rodon, but it's clear that they are making a strong push for him. The Giants, and possibly other teams, will no doubt be competing for his services as well. It's shaping up to be an interesting battle for one of the top remaining free agents on the market.
