Yankees Unwilling To Give Up Prospects for Jose Quintana, is Justin Verlander The Answer? @ 30 Dec 2016

Brian Cashman recently stated that "Yankees are not willing to sacrifice key prospects for 'short-term gain’." Meaning that Jose Quintana is off The Yankees radar for good. So what's the answer to The Yankees looking to get a legit starting pitcher this off season? Justin Verlander, I see no other scenario for The Yankees to pickup an All Star Caliber pitcher. Why is Justin Verlander an option? It's easy, he's still one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. And will cost less Prospect wise, to get him. Of course, The Yankees would have to pickup half of his contract. But it's a good investment longterm, to have a chance to make the playoff's for The Next 3 years. Saying that, Verlander will still be in his prime. The market for pitchers is dried up and will be for a while. If you have the chance to get one of The Best Top 5 Pitchers in All of Baseball, DO IT. Certainly, Verlander won't cost The Prospects a Jose Quintana trade would have. The Yankees need to free up some money, by trading away Headley and possibly Gardner. Pull The Trigger and be automatic contenders in 2017. He came in second in Cy Young voting in 2016 and has won the award before.
